How to make Basket chaat | Katori chaat recipe | chaat katori



Chaat recipe or a street food served in crisp snack deep fried bowls. the bowl or canopies is filled with potatoes, sprouts finely chopped onions and tomatoes with chaat chutneys and served as an individual snack. It can be an ideal party starter snack and certainly can raise a lot of curiosity with your party guests.

Apart from being an ideal starter or appetizer recipe, it can be a favorite snack recipe for your kids. If you are planning for your kids, the Katori's can also be baked as an alternative to making it even healthier. The recipe is extremely simple and can be achieved in few simple steps, yet some variations and tips for perfect Katori chaat recipe.

Firstly the recipe can also be prepared via baking. Basically, you can use muffins tray or tart shells. Preheat and bake at 180 °Celsius for 30 minutes or till it turns golden and crisp. While baking makes an impression with a fork and places some nuts on it, so that bakes nicely.


Ingredients

1 cup maida  / all-purpose flour

½ tsp salt

2 tbsp. oil, hot

Water to knead

Oil for frying

Katori Chaat Filling

1 cup chickpea/Chana, boiled

1 potato / aloo, boiled & cubed

¼ cup green chutney

1 cup moong/moth sprouts

½ cup tamarind chutney

1 cup curd/yogurt

Sprinkle Kashmiri red chili powder(optional)

Sprinkle cumin powder/jeera powder

1 onion, finely chopped

2-3 Green chilis finely chopped

1 tomato, finely chopped

½ cup nylon sev

Few coriander leaves

Sprinkle chaat masala

Sprinkle Black salt

Pomegranate seeds

Instructions

Firstly, prepare Maida dough. Let it rest for 10-15min.

Now pinch a ball sized dough, and flatten it.dust flour as required and roll slightly thick.

Make impressions with a fork to avoid bubbling. Place a small Katori or cup and wrap the dough.

Deep fry in hot oil or bake in preheated oven at 180°c for 25-30 minutes. Splash oil till the Katori separates from the dough.

Now fry the Katori, till it turns golden and crisp. Drain off over kitchen paper and keep aside.

Prepare chaat by assembling Katori in a plate.

Firstly, prepare maida dough.

Now pinch a ball sized dough, and flatten it.dust flour as required and roll slightly thick. Prick the flattened dough with the fork. Place a small Katori or cup and wrap the dough.

Deep fry in hot oil or bake in preheated oven at 180°c for 25-30 minutes. Splash oil till the Katori separates from the dough.

Now fry the Katori, till it turns golden and crisp. Drain off over kitchen paper and keep aside.
Prepare chaat by assembling Katori in a plate.

Add in 1 tsp boiled Chana, sprinkle some black salt, ½ green chutney, chopped onions, 1 tbsp.sprouts sprinkle some chaat masala, 1 tbsp.boiled and cubed potato, cumin powder, tomato,½ tsp green chutney, 1 tbsp curd, cumin powder,1 tsp tamarind chutney fresh anar daana atlas some nylon sev coriander for garnishing

Finally, serve Katori chaat immediately, sprinkling chaat masala over it.


Notes:

  • Katoris can be prepared before in hand and store in airtight container.
  • Prepare chaat just before serving.
  • Sprouts and anar daana makes chaat more health and nutrition.
  • To make Katori crisp and golden fry them in medium flame and while kneading add oil.
  • While baking makes an impression with a fork and places some nuts on it, so that bakes nicely.
